Rainy Day Activities on the Sunshine Coast: Indoor Options When the Weather Turns
The Sunshine Coast's wet season (November to March) and occasional winter storm days mean having good indoor options is worthwhile. The Sunshine Coast Art Gallery in Caloundra on Omrah Avenue and the Caloundra Regional Gallery have free entry and rotating exhibitions. Aussie World theme park at Palmview on the Bruce Highway has an entirely covered environment and is particularly popular with families on wet days. The Sunshine Coast Stadium at Bokarina has indoor stadium events. Birch Carroll and Coyle Cinemas and Village Cinemas operate across the region for film. Eumundi's historic pub, the Eumundi Hotel, is a convivial wet-day retreat in the hinterland. The Blackall Range towns of Montville and Maleny have art galleries, chocolate shops and cafes perfectly suited to a slower, weather-in day. Mapleton Lilyponds reserve provides a sheltered walk even in light rain. Indoor climbing gyms in Maroochydore are a popular option for active types.
